Good points, Michael. And it seems to me that we, as a society are on the cusp of a coalescent around the middle.
Extreme left and right seem to be diminishing in number while principled pragmatists in the center gain respect and a following.

I suspect the dems will take control of white house in 2008 and make more gains in Congress. BUT if they don't listen to the public and govern from what might be called the center, their hold could be short-lived.

Would you say the same for the extreme choicers who wont accept what their eyes tell them when they see a sonogram or dont care much when they see a partial birth abortion. There is an air of moral superiority on both the right and the left. One knows better because God told them and the other because they place no value at all on life.

I intentionally avoided the term extreme or extremism in the last case. From what we had before us, the Missouri legislature voted by a majority to withhold funding. They were the majority, or the mainstream as some would like to put it. You and I were the minority, sic, closer to being the extremists. I think there's a new definition of extremism emerging, if you strongly disagree with someone, then they are extremists.

One of the advantages of the last case [Missouri] we discussed is we were working from the same material. If you want to talk about partial birth abortion we should really have some common material to talk about. I can't think of anything more balanced and factual than:

c-spanarchives.org

It's not short [compared to Missouri], but if it's important enough to make it to the USSC an hour or so is worth it, IMO.

I knew someone in the pro abortion camp. I asked her what was the difference between an abortion on the day before delivery and killing a one year old child. She said very little. And that says it all. They know what they do at some level takes life but they refuse to compromise and thats just like the holy roller right.

It's the problem of where the bright line is.

P.S. Exodus 21:22 If men quarrel, and one strike a woman with child, and she miscarry indeed, but live herself: he shall be answerable for so much damage as the woman's husband shall require, and as arbiters shall award.

Pretty clear to me. God didn't consider it to be murder. It doesn't even look like God considered it a sin, but more in the realm of property damage to be resolved by civil authorities.
