<<My daughter injured herself and I will go with her to the orthopedic surgeon this Friday. She has had an MRI and has two tears in her rotator cuff and has pulled loose her bicep muscle. After her MRI was read, was told she would definitely need surgery to repair all this. >>

I do hope this ends well.

Naomi,

So sorry to hear about your daughter's injury. I'm sure she will do just fine with the surgery. You are a great mom for pitching in to help her out.

Oh my.......it just seemed to me that you did it all of dec, but I see that is not so. And thanks so much for pointing out that I am next to do it in Feb. I would have missed that all together if I hadn't asked. And I see that we have a new person named Meeka who will do the words in Oct. I haven't noticed that he/she has posted anything??

I am sorry to hear that your daughter injured herself. It sounds like the same type injury my skiing buddy has. She is all set to go in for surgery Feb 20th, and a bit nervous about it too. It is a day surgery, and it sounds like she will be home before lunch. Amazing what they can do these days.

Wishing her all of the luck and she must know how lucky she is to have a Mom like you.

;)

Oh dear. I know shoulder pain, and have had nothing like this. Will pray for a good result with your daughter.

Tell her that going to sleep is no big deal. You wake up again with no memory of what happened.

Oh, gosh, sorry to hear that about your daughter, Naomi! That was one of the roughest surgeries I've had...worse than the knee replacement even...and I wish I had been more prepared for that. I tore a bunch of "stuff in the rotator area" too, including the tendon, ligaments, rotator, and ruptured the bursa. BUT the good news is that if she does JUST what the surgeon tells her to do exercise-wise, it will be OK....I had a chair that exercised it the day after I got home, and that chair and I were buddies for about a month, plus all sorts of other PT.... The PT will ice, and put heat on, before and after the other therapy.... Hope she can get to PT and back with not much trouble....

In the long run, she will be so glad it's over, and she got through it.... I retore mine about a year and a half ago, and have to have another surgery. The Doc told me not to blow it off, but I have so far....It's telling me now, that it won't be too much longer I can do that.

THANKS for such great Reflections for everyone this month!

Very sorry to hear about your daughter. The most important part of all of this is therapy afterwards or in lieu of surgery. I broke the ball of my shoulder and tore things up some years back and by being very diligent about therapy and range of motion exercises I would say my shoulder is 95% on range of motion and it's pain free. I would expect your daughters to work out as well. Good luck!

Will it be open surgery or arthroscopic?
