Were things "better" under Saddam? Seems to be the viewpoint of antiwar protesters.

That something for the Iraqis to answer. However, looking at it from the outside, it would seem the answer unfortunately has become "yes" over the past 3 years.


You're the guy who used to say a nation should determine its own destiny. They seem to be doing a lot more of that since the demise of Saddam than when he was in power.

Seems too easy to apply your position to other great leaders of the past. Hitler, Mussolini, Castro, etc.

Parts of Africa have fallen apart since the British pulled out. I guess they were better off under colonial rule?
