Well, I hope you are right, but the US had no reason to physically get involved in the Lebanon war, or with Syria at the time. It would have been a very hard sell indeed, especially when one considers the overwhelming odds and Israel's overwhelming military superiority. Lebanon posed no real threat to Israel. I don't think Lebanon has an airforce, does it? Or much or anything else for that matter, other than a few firecrackers.

But Iran is an entirely different matter in my opinion, a long touted enemy and a real adversary. I think if Israel's survival is threatened, the US will not stand by.
