The only senator to vote against the Patriot Act.

The first to oppose wire taps and insisted that GWB be censured as a "possible first step toward impeachment".

Voted against the war.

Opposed GWB using the term "islamic fascists" when discussing terrorism or terrorists.

How about this line:

The answer should be clear. Since the President is adamant about pursuing his failed policies in Iraq, Congress has the duty to stand up and use its power to stop him. If Congress doesn’t stop this war, it’s not because it doesn’t have the power. It’s because it doesn’t have the will.

I didn't notice anything about winning, meeting objectives, or
even assigning new objectives and determining a way to meet them.

Winning is stopping the war.

Consequently one objective is stopping the escalation; preventing an attack on Iran is still another objective; a third objective is bringing home American troops through a measured withdrawal.

Instead the objective was defined as stop the war.

Sounds like the cut and run plan that so many politicians have denied an intention to implement or even became huffy about when it was suggested that this was their recommended strategy.

I suppose you could interpret it that way but then you would be wrong.......not that that would stop you. Wrongness seems to be a favorite state of mind for the right.

Is is your position that this IS the Democrats' plan or the plan the Democrats should endorse as a party? I'm curious.

The Democrats have several plans that vary to some degree. However, foremost on everyone's agenda, including mine, is stopping the escalation. What happens after that depends a lot on what your president does.
