Oh, come on... religious zeal is part of what fuels the Bush administration dropping thousands upon thousands of bombs on Iraq. Is that all that different than the religious zeal of the radical Islamists? It kills more people...

Ted, > Fundamentalism seems to lead to religious extremism which, in turn, tends to provoke violence.

To you and others who are scornful of religion, especially the organized type, you don't see much of a difference between religious zeal and the violence that is regularly practiced by Islamic extremists.

That's like saying there isn't much of a difference between the Light Side and the Dark Side of the Force. Except, of course, one of those sides blows up planets for sport ...

I recognize that the zealots who blow themselves up or who self flagellate like the Shia are extremists and that there are many more on the Muslim side than the Christian side although they do exist on the Christian side.

Where I do not see a difference is between the Mullahs of Iran and the Pat Robertsons of this country. The tone, the threats, the attitude.....they seem very much alike.
