Neolib, YOU are the one who offers no supporting evidence or convincing analysis for your position. All you do is bash the information which I give you by saying it simply can't be done.

I understand that you don't understand the subject but at least admit it and depart the field.

"How can anyone go bankrupt if they had a reasonable insurance policy?"

1. 47 million are uninsured because they can't afford to be.
2. insurance does not cover 100% of all medical procedures, services and products.
3. deductibles which can be in the thousands
4. lifetime caps -- as happened with Christopher Reeve

This question shows that you have no idea about what ails the American healthcare system.

"Some of them are driving new cars rather than buying insurance."

This is the same kind of rightwing nonsense that has images of welfare queens driving pink cadillacs dancing in your head. PROVE IT. What % of the uninsured are buying new cars when they could be buying what type of insurance?

"Again, this has zero to do with a monopoly system. It can be handled just fine with private insurers, mandatory coverage, and a wealth transfer mechanism."

Wrong. Medicare can be expanded to cover EVERYONE. As far as I can tell, it can be done unilaterally by Bush...tomorrow.

If he can come up with $3 billion/week for a nonsense war for oil profits then he can certainly come up with money to cover everyone. Will it be pretty? Nope, but neither is the out-of-control, poor-quality, hyper-expensive system we have today.
