What is the source of this article?
Regarding iran, i am sure it is a lovely country with wonderful people. I never thought otherwise but it is naive to think that all the problems in US/Iran relations are caused by the US. Having said that, i agree that its time that both nations review their basic national interests and realize that emnity works for neither.
What Friedman said was that the solution of the US/Iran cold war was more important than peace in israel/palestine. All good things would flow from rapprochement along with normalization of relations with Israel. Once that happens, the Pals will have no rational choice but to get real. Iran currently is their last great hope to win through the use of force. And for Israel where the fear of a nuclear iran is palpable, a fair deal with the palestinians would be a fair price to pay for normal relations with all states in the region including syria with a Golan deal. See i just fixed the whole damned Middle East.
