The UAE has about 800,000 citizens and about 10% of the world's known oil reserves (or something like that). Of that 800k, probably 30% are less than 18 and 20% are over 60. Then of the remaining 50%, half are women. So you've got about 200k adult working age men controlling 10% of the world's known oil. They are more interested in business than any of the regional ideologies (at least at the moment that is the case). It makes for a pretty amazing place.
