The problem is that the politicians will ride the wave of public sentiment in order to insure they have a job. The damage that will be done if we pull out of Iraq before stability is achieved will shake up the world and bring America to it's knees within the next 10 years, but you just can't convince some people of that. I'm not saying that we haven't made some mistakes over there - we may well have, but the solution is to correct them - not to GIVE UP! Mistakes or not, at least this administration is doing SOMETHING! The Clinton administration responded to terrorist attacks with SPEECHES! JMHO
