Balles strikes me as an extremist and something of a nutcase. Why? Because he is encouraging dialogue? Thinking he is a nutcase suggests you are not well informed when it comes to Israel and the ME. His credentials as an English professor and person who resided in the Middle East for 35 years aren't particularly impressive either, at least as background for the assessments he purports to make. I don't know......his information is closer to the truth than what I hear from most American leaders. His background may not be impressive from an academic point of view but from my understanding of the ME, I would say he's right up there. Since you linked his article, I have to conclude you share his views or at least approve of him. I mostly shared the views he expressed in the article to which I linked but not all his views. I also like the questions he asks in the article you posted as shown below. BTW how would you answer them.....after all, Israel has become an expensive dependency for the US to the tune of $6 billion per year. Why do you think that is? "Does a Zionist conspiracy really exist? If it doesn't, how can anyone explain the complete hold on American politicians exercised by 5.2 million Jews out of a total US population of close to 300 million? Why can't a single politician speak the truth and be heard by the 285 million non-Jews in America? Why can't they honestly tell the huge majority of American citizens how they're being taken for a ride? For how many more years are politicians going to be able to get away with having their constituents cough up billions in taxes to support torture and murder and grand theft of land, water and other resources from Palestinians by Israel?"
