Earth to Tad, all our Army engineers and Guardsmen are in Iraq - dying. Did you notice that was also a huge problem after Katrina? It's also a problem for Homeland Security.

The recent estimate of the border fence's cost was 43 billion not including buying the land. And you kinow border landowners would gouge the government there so figure at least 80 billion unless the government grabs the land via eiminent domain.

Next, once there's a wall, notice it only covers half the border. So the illegals would just move camp to the un-fenced areas. Or tunnel under the fence. Or use ladders. Or strong wire-cutters. Yes, it would slow them down and farms would have a hard time finding pickers, but it wouldn't stop it. And what a cost!
