Re: Agena FX: 2.4-2.9GHz.

Doug's pessimistic interpretation of all news AMD (in contrast to his optimistic interpretation of all news Intel) bites him again?

I don't see anything particularly pressimistic in this case. In fact the roadmap may even confirm what Doug was saying about low-frequency (2.5GHz) Barcelona Opterons which came from an HKEPC article.

Notice how the Agena is 2.4GHz - 2.6GHz at 125W, and notice how there are no watts listed for 2.4-2.9GHz Agena FX? It is possible the faster Agena FX CPUs will exceed 125W and would not be suitable for server use. Lower clocked quad-Opterons would be similar to the situation today with dual-core. There are no 3GHz dual-core Opterons now even though there are 3GHz dual-core Athlon 64s.
