There it has a pretty good monopoly. OK now you're just not paying attention. For, perhaps the fifth time, I'm telling you that Medicare COULD BY LAW WIPE OUT PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE....TOMORROW.As I already pointed out to you, eating healthfully, good exercise, immunizations, antibiotics, and responsible behavior along with perhaps dental care, will give by far the best ROI of any health care system. Where do you get this? 60% (I think it is) of Americans are overweight, I wonder if even 20% of Americans eat the RDA of vegetables and fruits. Responsible behavior is discouraged by the funding of things like corn and the ignoring of things like locally grown green vegetables. To add insult to injury, the medical establishment's foisting of HRTs onto women will likely be proven to have resulted in a significant increase in breast cancer. Yep, that's helpful. Not all health care is either effective or benign, some of it is outright lethal. There is a SINGLE ENTITY deciding whether or not we go to war. It should be more than that but apparently we're down to the unitary president. We have SINGLE ENTITIES deciding on the future of laws (Supremes), interest rates (Fed), etc. I have no problem dividing up the country into pieces as I think 300 million people is too many to have under a single umbrella but that's another subject. At this point, we need to keep people healthy and cared for because it's the moral and reasonable thing to do. What socialized medicine? Are you talking about Canada? Would Canadians want to pay more for 'care' and risk like ours? Would they? I don't think so.
