Wasn't the 'heart' of the 'new idea' proposal a renewed emphasis upon Iraqi reconstruction, 'hearts and minds' kind of stuff?

I wonder how that is even possible, given the level of current violence, (& all of the official reports coming out confirming corruption/waste/fraud and actual *backwards* results on certain infrastructure measures... such as elec. supply, sewage, etc.)

So... if the 'extra/new' 10 or 12 Billion for 'reconstruction' isn't possible (given that the Iraqis haven't been able to spend the 70 Billion or so already committed)... then what is left in the plan that is 'new'?

I am trying to remember if POLITICIANS ever got involved in our wars prior to Vietnam. WWII, I was too young to realize what was going on even though I had 3 brothers involved. Korea I was older and I remember none of this BULLSHIT. I am ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that POLITICIANS LOSE WARS and HURT THE USA. This BS about OVERSIGHT is just so much BULL. they dont give A DAMN about our troops or our nation, only THEIR OWN INTERESTS. Sometimes I'd like to see them all lined up against a wall and SHOT. jdn
