I use them where I can, too, but they're still pricey and some still start out kind of dim until they warm up (that's gotten better, though). Can't quite see putting them in decorative fixtures where the bulb is exposed, either. Call me shallow and environmentally insensitive. ;-)

Aww, c'mon now. Nobody cares about your electric bill, what we care about is sea level. Since you bought a flourescent light bulb, you have done your part to save Florida.

My only problem with fluorescent lights is that they give off a harsh unnatural light, but they do save a lot of energy. They work well when used as a background light when watching TV or to light a room where you aren't going to read or spend a lot of time.
