1st Amendment doesn't protect individuals from defaming, slandering and libeling. The problem is that the lies are so pervasive, that it's very expensive to sue them all. There are in fact law suites ongoing against the producer of that sham "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal". We all know the right is VERY well funded by big oil, big military and big media (a la Rupert Murdock, Ted Turner etc.). They mount very extensive smear campaigns with lots of innuendo and distortions, which they clear with their high-paid lawyers first to avoid legal action. Very effective.
