Rich,

A little more light on the subject...

Several other analysts at that time were concerned with the two divisions that were losing money; handsets and infra. When I offered to them that they didn't see the big picture, they were ONLY able to relate to me the current financial position and had very little clue as to the actual direction of wireless communication; especially pertaining to digital.

The other main concern often voiced at that time was the possible "incestuousness" of a family owned business. Fortunately, clear thinking from fellow analysts such as Alex Cena and Art Molloy, along with public comments from Gregg Powers, made the light a little more visible.

I can't tell you how many times I had to state, "everything analog will go digital, and by the way, CDMA is a superior digital technology" only to receive a "dear in the headlights" stare from those yokels. Every meeting I went to, the "numbers crunchers" would constantly complain about "the losing infra division and that the handsets might break even"... Most of those guys were also on the "sell-side" and had alliances with the investment bankers that followed you know who

All this talk just reminds me that we are in "Holy Wars, Part II" and to stay the course.
