I did all the critical updates b4 my last post. I just did 8 other updates including hardware updates and now my sound works. Vista's overall look is different, more colorful, but everything is pretty much where you expect it to be.

Glad to hear a success with Vista. My main problem has been with graphics. I like to play a few FPS games and the drivers out now for my graphics card do not run them near as well as the XP drivers. In fact, my favorite game is Medal Of Honor Spearhead and I have had to install a program called nHancer to get it to even load. The play is still choppy. I've also found Vista slower to respond doing anything. I've not tried turning off all the eye candy to see if thing run smoother because that's the only thing so far that I find better about the OS. If you were using AC97 onboard sound you can download the latest Vista driver (6213)from the Realtek site. It works fine.
