Rather sounds like that was the actual title given, doesn't it? lol

This *idea* will be about as worthwhile as the water conservation toilets, which were also mandated. Since they are inefficient, people flush more than once. So what was accomplished? Nada.

The same will be true of lightbulbs. Folks will just buy more lamps so that they will have adequate light.

This is the same kind of thinking I see in products liability cases all the time. Interlock theory. You're supposed to make a product idiot-proof so that it can't be operated unsafely.

Yeah, right. Remember those seat belts which automatically deployed across the shoulders, still leaving you unbelted across the lap? How long did those last?

People have limitless ability to circumvent safety or conservation measures and anyone with half a brain knows that.

Of course, maybe the idea is employment enhancement. More work for plumbers to deal with inefficient toilets. Perhaps the electrician lobby/union is looking for their piece of the pie as well.....Even Wal-Mart will benefit according to the article. Ah...the law of unintended consequences.....Ironic that a Democrat's idea yields benefit to Wal-Mart...<g>

I wish that Levine dude would spend more of his energy on transportation issues in CA. Outlawing incandescent lights yields nothing in comparison to real measures taken to reduce gridlock and improve vehicular transportation.

Unfortunately, these politicians regard their little frou frou
bandaids as some major achievement....
