Islam is a way of life for muslims and that is quite clear.. But there is a lot of differences how it has shaped up in different countries...

The problem is I think what is based on tradition and culture is at times given a religious justification by fundamentalists.. In his other speeches you will hear him make a point that there are many interpretation of Islam and there is no compulsion in religion and one group cannot impose their interpretation on anther etc.. (I am paraphrasing this)..

So this is obviously going to be a long drawn exercise where each country finds what works for them and over time hope that intolerant and fundamentalists view does not prevail.. I think left alone, gradually you will see moderating influences in a lot of places.. More like say Turkey, Malaysia and Pakistan then Saudi Arabia and Iran...

FWIW..
