"It took a while to figure it seldom saves money. " That is the problem with being purely ideologically driven. There are some cases where it makes sense. There are others where it doesn't. Going in with the unshakable belief that it always makes sense is going to mean waste. "Jeb slowed his privatization drive; George doesn't seem to mind the extra cost. " Why should he? Not only does he not have to balance the budget, he is also of the opinion that he can't be held accountable.
