>>> Cramer is an opportunist pure and simple.

And who isn't?

In the relationship between Cramer and Mel, I would say Mel has behaved much more like an "opportunist" than Cramer has. If anything, Cramer is guilty of having allowed himself to become enamored with Mel.

The problem with SIRI today is that Mel inherited a much bigger mess than a lot of people (perhaps including Mel) comprehend.

Had Mel not inherited the Stern contract, he could have turned Sirius around very quickly IMO. But with the Stern Mistake came a financial drain on company resources that make the next four years a tremendous uphill battle for Sirius. It is difficult to see a way out of it in the near term.

They are trying to cut costs -- but in the process they are having to cut content. Meanwhile, XM is in a much stronger position to add essential content (like SEC games, perhaps) because it is more secure financially and hasn't committed bandwidth it doesn't have to a fiasco like backseat video (done solely to accommodate DCX, without any sign of a profit motive, whatsoever).
