LA Police Chief Bratton is against the NRA. Many top Chiefs and Police leaders are. Some of the rank and file cops are NRA members, but that's understandable, until they open their eyes and see the NRA is pushing cop-killer bullets, drum magazines, fully automatic weapons and concealed weapons permits for almost any white people who want them. So how many more cops have to die or Columbine students have to be massacred before we tell the NRA to cool it and back off. Nobody has any problems with common sense gun ownership and safety. The issue is these military style weapons and lax standards for concealed weapons.
