LIG -- the Fed has no magic wand. It can live with below trend growth, but it cannot be counted on to defend the dollar in a slower growth economy. Indeed, many in business will be pushing for a lower dollar to promote exports. This will be somewhat helpful, but it will also be decidedly inflationary. House prices might stay flat to down for quite a while, and I would agree that a house is a place to live, not a place to invest. But I would not be too sanguine about prospects for inflation -- other to expect more, and not less, inflation in the future.
