I wrote an email to Brian William telling them that they should post the address of the Foundation on their web page and announce it on their next broadcast which they did. Below is the info about the Foundation and a page to make a donation. If you can see your way to give money, please do so....the New Orleans FD has been decimated:REBUIlDING NEW ORLEANS FIREHOUSES The Leary Firefighters Foundation has partnered with the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) in an ongoing effort to support the New Orleans Fire Department in the restoration and reconstruction of firehouses rendered uninhabitable and non-functional in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The NYMEX Charitable Foundation has made a $100,000 grant and The Leary Firefighters Foundation has matched it with an additional $100,000 in funds raised at The 6th Annual BASH for New York's Bravest and through this website. Together The LFF and NYMEX have committed to rebuilding at least 3 of the devastated NOFD firehouses and NYMEX members will be traveling to New Orleans in the spring to work as volunteers in the reconstruction.THE NOFD lost 23 of its 33 stations. To date, only 16 stations have been repaired to the point where they can be occupied, and this work has been done by private orgainzations or the firefighters themselves, working overtime and without pay. The remaining stations are in need of extensive renovations; firefighters are currently working out of trailers until the stations have been repaired for occupancy. The restoration of these facilities for the NOFD will be a significant boost to the safety and morale of not only the New Orleans firefighters but also the citizens of the great city. These firehouses serve communities where residents are wary of reoccupation due to the lack of public services. To restore these firehouses will assure displaced residents that they will have protection and support when they return. To help support this ongoing project, please click herelearyfirefighters.org
