'We need to earn a living and pay our bills WITHIN a global economy. Running from the global economy is no answer, but neither is claiming that it does no harm to spend more than you earn forever.'

Can GWB will figure out before it is too late that his legacy should be spreading US consumerism to the rest of the world instead of spreading democracy to Iraq?

I don't know what to say, I don't see it that way.

I don't think we're spending ourselves to poverty.

I don't think the value of the dollar is in jeopardy if Bernanke follows his inflation targeting agenda. Where you can run into problems is when you have Democracts like Barney Frank who question the mandate that Bernanke would like to pursue.

I for one am glad that Americans are wiser and more sophisticated about how they invest their assets. Count me in as one of those persons with a virtual 0% savings rate.
