Operators which participated in the selection of the winning handset include Cingular, Globe Telecom, Hutchison 3G, KTF, MTN, Orange, Smart, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telenor, T-Mobile and Vodafone. These operators together have 620 million subscribers, the GSM Association said in a statement in October.

No China Mobile listed there (which would add 300+ million subs) .

But I wonder if the EETimes is wrong about their participation (wrong about "nine")

The TD-SCDMA Alliance is taking a page from a similar alliance formed in 2006 that aims to reduce the cost of wideband-CDMA phones. Nine companies, including China Mobile, Hutchison Whampoa Telecom and Vodafone, joined the 3G For All project to promote a $100 wideband-CDMA handset.
