Mindmeld, > The real problem with the Arabs is they have a perpetual victim mindset.

That's a recent thing, one brought about by the whole politics of victimization. They wear their grievances on their sleeves, thereby justifying whatever brutal acts were done for their cause.

And it works wonders for them. Look at how many people in the world think America deserved 9/11. Heck, even in this country.

Why should they give up their victim mindset?

Another example of how the Israelis screw with the Arabs. As recently as five years ago, this stuff wouldn't have made the news as the American press 'protected' the Israelis. Of course, we are getting smarter to the stunts the Israelis pull.

This whole issue regarding the Dome of the Rock, one of Islam's most sacred sites in Jerusalem, has been simmering for years now. The Israelis are doing all kinds of idiotic excavations and tunneling in the hill on which the Dome sits, weakening the foundation of the Dome. Of course, you will see this as a minor incident but for the Arabs who consider Jerusalem their holy city as well and who had expected to share the city with the Israelis, its another thorn in their side.

MM, you have to look closely at what Israel is doing......you can't depend on the American press to keep you informed. They are not the good guys you think they are.

Jordan king attacks Israel over mosque excavations

AMMAN, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Jordan's King Abdullah said on Tuesday Israeli excavation works near the al-Aqsa mosque in the holy city of Jerusalem has led to a dangerous rise in Middle East tensions and could derail revival of Arab-Israeli peace talks.

"What Israel is doing in its practices and attacks against our sacred Muslim sites in Jerusalem and al-Aqsa is a blatant violation that is not acceptable under any pretext," the monarch was quoted by the state news agency Petra as saying.

"These measures will only create an atmosphere that will not at all help in the success of efforts being undertaken to restore the peace process," the monarch said.

Israeli excavation work on Tuesday near an entrance to a compound in Jerusalem that houses the al-Aqsa mosque drew Palestinian protests and Israeli assurances the dig would not harm Islam's third holiest shrine.

"This is a dangerous escalation we have seen in the last few hours ... these works and excavations pose a threat to the foundations of al-Aqsa (al-Sherif)," the monarch said.

The Hashemite ruling family of Jordan, which traces its lineage back to the Prophet Mohammad, has acted as custodian of the Muslim shrines of Jerusalem since the British mandate of Palestine in the early 20th century.

The family kept this role in the divided holy city even after Jordan lost East Jerusalem and the West Bank to Israel in a 1967 war.

Israel's opening of an entrance to an archaeological tunnel near Haram al-Sharif in 1996 touched off violent Palestinian protests and led to clashes in which 61 Arabs and 15 Israeli soldiers were killed.

A Palestinian uprising erupted in 2000 after then-opposition leader Ariel Sharon toured the compound.

Israel annexed East Jerusalem after the 1967 conflict in a step that has not been recognised internationally. Palestinians want the eastern part of the city as the capital of a future state.

The Arabs may think they can act like a Bear, but they aren't cornered and they hold more power than they think they do.

The Arabs don't think or act like a bear currently. However I think they will in the future.

The real problem with the Arabs is they have a perpetual victim mindset. There is an old Arab saying that goes something like this: "Me against my brother. My brother and I against our neighbor. All of us Arabs against the world."

The real problem with the Arabs is that they are corrupt and backward and don't trust each other. Their arrogance comes from insecurity. For years, that worked to Israel's advantage but not for much longer. You see, the Iranians are not Arab; they are Persian. Its Iran's influence that allowed Hezbollah to emerge the winner in their recent exchange with Israel even as Israel destroyed Lebanon.

What that saying means is that Arabs are perpetually fighting amongst themselves. You see it in Palestine today and that is the main reason they don't have a state. Of course, they blame Israel, but truth is that if they could just get their act together under one government, then they could negotiate the terms of their statehood. Arafat, may his soul rest in hell, had the chance of a lifetime to get a state from the Clinton negotiations and he turned it down. That's the real story of the Arabs and Muslims.

Like I said, the Arabs have a false pride that comes from insecurity but I'll tell you.....if I were an Arab, I would have turned down Israel's offer. Israel's final offer was a beginning offer. Israel refuses to consider right of return and will not give something in exchange for the Arab property and land they confiscated in 1948. Yet, that didn't stop the Israelis from complaining and accusing Switzerland of screwing them during WW II and wanting some form of compensation. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. You say the Arabs are unreasonable but let tell you, MM, had you accepted the offer Israel was proposing I would have called you a fool.

In the meantime, Israel continues to partake of the water under the West Bank for their own use....so they are in no hurry to come to a settlement.

One other thing. The Muslims always call themselves the lions of Allah, etc. Lot's of hairy chests and machismo. However, the fact is, tejek, the Muslims are not the Lions or Bears you think they are.

I have never thought for one moment they are lions and bears. That's your paranoia, not mine.

If they attacked Israel with the intent to destroy them, they just might accomplish that goal with a nuke, but that would mark their own destruction. It would be the literal beginning of WW 3. At the end of the day, Israel and all the Middle Eastern countries are just pawns in a larger power struggle that include the US on one side, Russia on another, China on yet another, and some European countries like France on yet another side. Everyone will want a piece of a war between all the Muslims and Israel. That would be a very ugly thing.

I don't think the Arabs would nuke Israel.....I don't think they will have to. All they have to do is surround Israel with the missiles they will buy with their oil money. At some point, the US is going to have to give up subsidizing Israel......we are going broke. When that happens, we will stop running to Israel's rescue and the Israelis will be on their own. At that point, they will have to start playing fair, or run the risk of a serious war. Israel can't afford a serious war without the US as a sugar daddy. Israel suffers a serious budget deficit just like we do. In fact, if Israel were a corporation, it would have filed for Chapter 11 long ago, and sold off its assets. Israel is an expensive experiment whose time is running out.
