Too many assumptions and prejudgments in that one for me. I would be happy with "I hope the present generation will be safer, and will be protected from violent actions." No need to sacrifice the innocent child if it can be done via other means.

The trouble with the line of thinking (as expressed in the dialogue leading to this post) is that you are on a big ship.

It doesn't matter that the Captain's navigation is imperfect.

If the ship goes down you go with it. Or go into slavery or become an oarsman for a pirate's galley.

Then you will not have the choice you once had on an imperfect vessel that was the best of the lot.
