That's exactly what it does. It shows that the ANY country can be defeated by a patient strategy of geurilla conflict, just as Vietnam did. Size and strength of a military doesn't change any hearts and minds in a foreign country, just the opposite.

No, silly, failing to produce an acceptable society for Iraqis to live in does not prove a defeat for the USA. The USA will be fine once we leave Iraq. It's like saying that the Indianapolis Colts were defeated when they tried to help a kid with brain cancer. The kid died. But the Colts are fine. Not being able to achieve everything is not the same as being defeated.

When you are defeated you lose. Your cities are destroyed, your economy grinds to a halt and chaos ensues. That is not happening to the USA, it is happening to Iraq.
