LOL, I am not taking it from AMD execs I am taking it from my own understanding of the new architecture. Like when I said Conroe/Tulsa/Clovertown would be good before the benches turned up ;-). I remember arguing with some awesome genius called 'chipdesigner' (aka you) on the subject who was pimping quad-core Opteron at the time ;-). My guess is that AMD chose low clock speeds in order to fit Barcelona into some rather aggressive power requirements. That way, they can give up on the GHz rat race and focus on maximizing performance per watt. AMD execs and the people who worship them (e.g. the recommend-droids) will say anything they want, but I don't think Barcelona will turn into a fiasco like Quad FX. Tenchusatsu
