No one said you have to turn a deaf ear toward the public, but being totally driven by the polls is just going too far. On the other hand, being totally driven by ideology is as, or more dangerous. That should be obvious right now. And being oblivious to polls is certainly not reasonable. Democracy is all about the collective being smarter than the individual.

You want a parent; I want a representative. We are coming from two very different perspectives.
