Brian, you're thinking may not be correct. The primordial instinct to survive trumps anything you said, even money. During the cold war Russia could be counted on not to make a pre-emptive strike because they wanted to survive. Likewise with Iran. The nuclear Iran phobia exists primarily here in the U.S., countries closer to Iran like Russia and China are not so concerned with Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon, even France, Italy and Spain are not so alarmed; and those countries could more easily be wiped out by a nuclear Iran than us. Moreover, most of the EU are not really supportive of our efforts against Iran - we are the sole and only instigator for sanctions, nobody else except maybe Israel.
Also, Iran never invaded other countries, that's been our method and that's why Iran wants a nuke to counter our aggressive militarization of the world. I hope you would re-think your position.
