The NRA is dishonest and radical. Period. If you want to argue gun laws, get rid of the NRA as your source. They have a long history of radical, unfair and dishonest lobbying and spin. Also ask yourself why the NRA would stage a huge rally right after Columbine and never even apologize to the citizens for what happened there. They are a defiant bunch. And they don't care how many people die. If they did, they'd fight to keep weapons out of the hands of kids and they'd cooperate with law enforcement instead of fighting against the Police on these issues.
