This thread is too moderate. For many, it is like preaching to the converted.

Without a sane place for this conversation to happen, it won't exist at all on SI, and that would be a loss for the overall political discussion spectrum.

Put another way, it is an effort to see what political talk can be like when we leave out the misguided and ill-behaved and keep the discussion civil. Since I plan to be around for a long while to come, that won't change.

The misguided can be enlightened somewhere else, or by reading along here if they like. Personally, I couldn't care less about the activists on either side. Not my concern or problem.

Encourage some of the misguided to come in and let the conversation begin.

If Dale does that, I'll most likely move elsewhere. That move on SI doesn't produce a conversation. Rather it's a punching bag; a ranting convention. No one learns; everyone shouts; or just takes shots at one another.

If I want to argue with those types, there are more than enough opportunities on other SI threads. This one is unique in that I can relax on it.
