Eric: Tony Naldrett is acknowledged by most folks at the Ontario Geological Survey to be the fore-most expert on the Sudbury Basin. He recently retired from the University of Toronto having earned his PhD there and doing post doctural work thereafter. He was not only an academic. He spent "many moons" in the field, both on surface and underground. He is respected by his peers in the academic world and by the field workers and miners with whom he came in contact with. (my father having been one of them).

This link is to his presidential address in 2002, and is worth-while reading for any interested in the geological phenomenon which is the Sudbury Basin.
