Because, after the million and a half people slaughtered in their eight year long Gulf War, Iran and Saddam were such good friends. :-) (ESPECIALLY since he tried something like that once --- flying some of his fighter aircraft to Iran for safety before the Desert Storm attacks --- and he NEVER GOT THEM BACK from Iran. <GGG> Iran just went: "Nyah-nyah-nyah Saddam... you are such an idiot!" (Yeah, I'm sure he thought he could count on his greatest enemy to help him out. :-)
