If we didn't have the occasional chit-chat inbetween the more serious conversations, I don't think it would work. People don't often share with people they've never met in 3D anything personal, and therefore don't share anything that is important, either. People don't learn, nor even think, without some type of "other" interaction. The power of the internet is that we do meet each others brain, and either like it or not, as the case may be. Ken was such a good example of that. We didn't often agree politically, but both of us liked each other personally. I saved many of his PM's to me because I respected him and hoped someday I could meet both he and his wife.
