Taxes increased to painful levels will lead to deflation, and recession which will increase, not decrease the deficit and national debt as the govt struggles to spend its way out of the recession. And after spending fails you will get tax cuts again. NOw thats really a great plan, Kate, isnt it. Point is to be frugal but not kill the goose. Even the dems dont use the word painful but i guess you speak what they really are thinking.
