I suspect that the issue of ethnic states is going to be with our planet long past my life on it. If cultures could only be orthogonal to each other, they could coexist in the same space without conflict, but unfortunately, they aren't orthogonal at all points, so conflict arises. Its a great shame that our species can't seem to come to grips with the treasures of biological & cultural diversity, other than by eventually losing them through dilution. Unfortunately, preserving them tends to lead to conflicts. So how to win?
