Well, it would be more clear if you stated that .05 is 5%, just move the decimal point over two places for percents.

At any rate, even 5% of US gdp is a small number.

We spend more of our GDP than the rest of the world on the military because we are the hegemon, we keep the peace.

We're the only hegemon after the collapse of the Soviet empire, so it's our job. They won't do it, we will.

Pretty much everybody in the world expects us to keep the peace so they don't have to spend their money on a big military.

Without the Pax Americana, economic, political, social, human globalization would not be possible.

Like it or don't, whether you vote for Hillary or Giuliani, you'll be casting your vote to continue the Pax Americana.
