any declaration of war ?

If not, its no different to the US poking its nose around the world, with incidents like Iran/Contra, support against USSR in Afghanistan etc.

Let us not pretend we are squeaky clean.

Iran has been nipping at us since the assasination of Mossedeq {sp?}, and terror groups have tried to get rid of us as occupiers, meddlers, etc.

I see this type of aggression as retaliatory.

In fact, the more I read about the history of the middle east, the more I dislike our historic meddling and view it as counterproductive. And now we're even more entangled.

Surely there was (and is) an easier and cheaper way to secure access to oil in the middle east.
