When the world runs out of pumpable oil, we will still be on top. We have tar, gas, water, coal trees, and only marginally stupid politicos. We should think of things to do with coal. There is no difference between burning coal and oil as far as greenhouse gases go. If indeed greenhouse gases are the real problem, then it behooves us to solve the problem because there is 30K years of coal energy left and perhaps only 300 years of oil and gas. After that of course we will be nirvanautopiaNewfreedomscienceweisallgeniusessoitwon'tmatterenergywillbefree I think we should go to wind, water and fusion 100 years before we run out of oil. A few engineers think that is not a problem that we have to solve until we have to solve it, and then everybody is on equal footing. Except those who have already solved it. I think there is 6 times as much pumpable oil as everyone thinks there is. Offshore, and in the Arctic islands. Even the Antarctic. Certainly Infia and Africa on and offshore is largely unexplored. The only problem there is politics. We should stop and think about the whole energy-pollution problem a bit more. Eskimos eating far too many PCB's bothers me. Who the hell is coming to terms with that? As much as I hate Sierra Club non science, I think finally that we need them, because as wrong headed as the con is, the pro is far more dangerous unchecked. All these idiots running fast to develop oil energy and bring themselves up to max energy usage, as fast as they can while they are running out as fast as they can develop makes me shake my head.. who has any brains left in this world?
