Kuwait is only separate from Iraq because of a random line drawn by British occupiers. Iraq only exists because of random lines drawn by various occupiers. Kuwait has the right to remain separate from Iraq because the Kuwaitis (quite understandably) don't want to be Iraqis. Self-determination, perhaps you've heard of it? there's more in favour of it than for China to take possession of Taiwan, which a lot of people seem to think is reasonable. Actually not very many people think it's reasonable, even in China, though nobody wants to say it out loud. Way too much money being made off the status quo to go rocking boats...
