I don't think anybody should have nuclear weapons, not even us.

These things are not status symbols, and it's irrational to treat them as if they were something to boast about and feel as if you've somehow "arrived" at an exalted status simply because you have the ability to kill millions of people with one blow.

We couldn't have stopped Pakistan or India at the time. I wish we could have.

We certainly couldn't have stopped the Soviets or the Chi-coms.

The present governments of Pakistan and India appear to have no interest in using nuclear weapons offensively against each other, or anybody else.

Could we have stopped Israel? I have no idea. But Israel certainly isn't interested in using nuclear weapons offensively.

It's not a matter of being fair and balanced. It's about keeping crazy people from doing awful things.
