The Buckhorn Exchange is indeed one of Denver's most famous eateries. I also believe it is the oldest in town. As you noticed by its location, it's not very "uptown". That's where Denver originated down along the Platte River. I haven't been there in years, but it was a favorite 2-3 times a month for lunch when I worked downtown.

I think they still serve buffalo, elk and venison steaks for dinner. Quite an atmosphere, eh?
