So the US will intentionally break international law....

I suppose it depends on the means the US [and other countries] use to prevent Iran. It may not be in violation of international law to sanction or embargo Iran if it's approved by the UNSC. If the US chooses to bomb Iran, that would be a violation of international law. [Unless they can bait Iran into attacking a US interest.] But as the US is the only elephant around, who's going to take them to court? Any UN action would certainly be vetoed by the US.
