One day this concept of 'we're the only elephant around' will bite us more than we realize. To some extent it already has. We still have a cold war mentality of conventional war. Every one else has figured out that you can't beat the US in a conventional war so we're into asymmetric warfare where the superpower advantage is diminished. In formal docs, Iran wants nuke technology for energy production, not weapons. Why is it not possible to take them at their word, given they have signed NPT ? I don't think there's any better answer to that question than, "We don't want to?" And that's not an answer that Iran accepts. I think we all hang on to some human characteristics of being a teenager. Tell a teenager that he can't have something and they want it even if they didn't want it before. jttmab
