Ichy, were you born in the US, or are you Canadian...You should run for a political office. You have some good ideas... First, here in the US and in Canada, one would have to get all the PC folks to pay attention to what is going on around them. Most won't listen...Don't want to hear anything negative, are anti-Victory in addition to anti-war, etc etc... Many who watch FOX know some of it, but most who watch ABC<NBC<CBS<CNN<CSPAN, etc don't " don't know their own words"--and seemingly don't WANT to know either. I would demand that new energy sources be found and that mileage in new models be doubled in 6 years. I would nationalize every city's public transit, and make transit almost free. *I would pay for transit out of Gas taxes. So that taking a car becomes something special. As more and more people use public transit, I would order it be utilitarian, timely, and relatively frequent. *All transit would be based on usage not politics so that places with lower usage would have longer waits between buses or streetcars. I would bring back electrically driven buses attacked to wires. ***I would make profiting from terrorism and acts of terrorism death penalty offenses so that if someone gets a payment because their child commits an act of terrorism, they face the death penalty. Inciting terrorism would also be a death penalty offense. I say, following the inserted "": * YES, I agree...we should be drilling anyplace around the US wherever possible. We need more refineries. The Left Greenie-Loonies have stopped this...we need to change that. We need to fine the companies who do cause spills.... Yes, BUT we would have to look at some of the Ralph Nader type required equipment that has been added...some is necessary, but I doubt all of it is. Instead of fining companies, we should add incentives for all vehicles that show an increased gas mileage and that are no more poluting than they are today. * Would have to think about Nationalising much of anything. Think FEMA and all the Agencies under it....Too many cooks in the kitchen. But requirements should be set up to meet Federal Standards for sure. ** Re transit, look at WA State for instance. ONe of the highest gas taxes in the country....34+ cents per gallon for State taxes, plus all States have the 18.4 Fed Tax....This dumb state keeps building roads to someplace, not where needed, and there IS NO OVERSIGHT. These guys take years to complete a relative short project....Job protection, I guess. This situation should really be looked at by a SERIOUS Congressional Committee....Is there such a one??? Especially in a HEAVY Dem State on the Left Coast in particular??? * Electric wires for busses would have gone out during our last ice/snow storm. Gas pumps did too, and people couldn't get gas. Something else has to be done here. **** TOTALLY Agree!

Sorry Ichy, demands don't work here The trend has become minority rules. There is plenty of oil to be drilled for in and around the U.S. Trouble is, the Libs and tree huggers won't allow it. One whiner stops the whole train of progress or heaps economic woes on the masses. As for the potential terrorist situation, I'm all for some sort of joint U.S./Canada positive identification method to certify who is who and whether they belong here. Maintenance of one's civil rights are fine so long as those people intend to remain civil. But once it is determined that any faction of society is promoting violence or other bad deeds, all bets are off. Deport or incarcerate. Jak
